Manchester United Boss David Moyes has pleaded with the team's fans to be patient with his new boy in the club Maroune Fellaine. The Belgium midfielder has not pulled the impact expected of him after his transfer from Everton worthy £27.5 million.
With Michael Carrick and Phil Jones injuries, Moyes expects him to step up tomorrow against Cardiff.
“Marouane knows he can play better. We are yet to see him
properly. He can be a bigger influence,” said Moyes.
“Ideally, we would have liked to have bedded him in gently,
but we had to put him into some big games when we were not playing as we would
have liked”
“A lot of players who join Manchester United don’t bed in
quickly. He was slow bedding in at Everton as well.
“If we had had our way we would probably have bought another
midfielder as well and it would have meant using them in the games when we felt
it was right.”
Danny Welbeck’s knee is still proving a concern but Moyes
said: “He is back in training and has done a lot of work on strengthening the
muscles around his knee. All the medical people say there isn’t a need for an
operation.”
Carrick has signed a contract extension to 2015 with an
option for a further year.
